diviniTree Loose Incense

Fire was once viewed as a sacred medium of transformation and scent was regarded as the ambrosia of the Gods. Smoke would act as a vehicle for prayer, delivering it to the higher realms where the Gods would be pleased and pour blessings upon the people. The burning of incense is still widely practiced in most of today's religions, continuing to transport the prayers of the devoted.

To burn incense powder, drop a pinch onto a burning charcoal disk that is set upon ash in a fireproof burner.

This bamboo charcoal is clean-burning and emits no scent, unlike the chemically treated charcoal sold with incense in most stores, and is therefore safer to burn in an enclosed space. It is easy to start and maintain. Use atop white ash in a bowl or cup-shaped burner with 3-legged design. The traditional 3 legs prevents the burner from over heating. Be certain to extinguish the charcoal after each use.

Stick Incense

Burning incense as a daily practice or ritual is a prominent feature of many spiritual cultures.

If you’d like to begin a practice of burning incense ceremonially, here are some ideas:

Lighting the incense signals an opening, so it is usually done at the start of your ritual or day. You may want to burn it during daily prayer or meditation, to welcome each new day and the beauty it may bring, as a gesture of gratitude or as an offering to your ancestors or to a deity. If your faith observes sacred days of the week, you might opt to burn incense on these days or preceding any special event. From a feng shui perspective, incense harmonizes and energizes the home by cleansing the energy in a space and moving chi, the non-visible life force that permeates our world.

These beautifully scented sticks are shorter than most incense found in stores, making them a sensible choice for briefer burning time.

4 sticks each of 3 tasty scents: sandalwood, frankincense and chai. 12 sticks - 2.75" long, plus a biodegradable holder. Approximate burning time: 20 minutes per stick.
